Comic Art is the highest quality, full-color art magazine devoted to comics, and the material covered is as rich and wide-ranging as the medium itself. Classic and contemporary newspaper strips, magazine cartoons, and comic books are examined and celebrated by the most respected writers and artists from within and outside of the field. Comic Art has inarguably the best production values of any publication of its kind and features rarely-seen original art and printed material.
New Format
Comic Art 9 (Fall 2007) continues the expanded format of the acclaimed previous issue: a full-color, square-bound 192-page magazine/book. Published in partnership with Buenaventura Press, the new Comic Art will showcase what founding editor Todd Hignite describes as a mighty impressive line-up of contents - both subject matter and contributing authors.
Our Audience
In its short existence, Comic Art has already attracted and retained a dedicated audience of comics readers of all stripes, illustration admirers, literature enthusiasts, art and design aficionados, pop-culture addicts, historians, critics, and crossover-mainstream readers curious about the art of comics. Our readership spans generations, from high school and college students passionate about our focus to working professionals and older fans attracted to a magazine that covers comics and cartoonists they loved as young readers.
So widely esteemed is our magazine that it has been nominated for a half-dozen industry awards in just its first three years, including a distinguished Harvey Award in 2004 for "Best Biographical, Historical, or Journalistic Presentation." Comic Art is well on its way to becoming a staple of high-school, university, and public libraries everywhere.
